SEXUAL ABUSE AND MISCONDUCT PREVENTION
The policy of the Diocese of Rochester is that all
clergy and church employees must have training in both
child sexual abuse awareness and
adult misconduct prevention. In addition, all lay volunteers who have
direct contact with children and youth in their ministries must be
trained. Information about currently scheduled training
opportunities is described
below. We hope you will download our brochure entitled “ Common
Sense Guidelines for a Safe Church,” and make it readily available
in your congregation.
For those who did this training in years past, the
focus has shifted from identifying certain behaviors
to proactive development of ways to create safe places
for all of us. We recommend that you ”re-up” your
training as soon as possible.
